Robotics (ages 8 to 10) Use The LEGO® Mindstorm Invention Kit to design and build a robot!  Use RCX programming code to make it operate as you wish. The programming language used by LEGO® was developed with the MIT Media Lab. Can your robot navigate through the maze without stumbling? On the last day of this camp, teams will compete operating robots through an amusing obstacle course. Bruce Fleming moved back to Beaver County after attending Columbia University in NY. He found work with Bovard-Anderson in Beaver upon his return. Mr. Fleming joined the board back in 2016 at the urging of his employer, Ed McLaughlin, who served for over 25 years. Married to a Beaver Area School District teacher, Bruce has an intimate connection to the needs of local teachers. He sits on both the marketing committee and the fundraising committee and has been instrumental in increasing donations to the organization. The BCET counts itself lucky to have him as a trustee.

What is it like to have dyslexia? How does it affect your daily life? This simulation allows participants to experience some of the challenges and frustrations faced by people with this language-based learning disability. The Simulation begins with a brief discussion of dyslexia, including the neurological basis, the demographics, the warning signs, and the interventions which have been shown, through solid research, to have positive impact. It consists of six learning stations that present different language-related learning tasks encountered in the classroom or workplace.
