After attending the Social Thinking conference, we plan to use the knowledge attained there, along with licensed resources purchased, to train our Kindergarten teammates throughout the district on how to incorporate the social thinking models in their classrooms. We are confident that, by focusing on SEL at the primary level, it will strengthen our students' abilities to meet the goals set for them in the district-wide positive behavior plan that we will be putting into place in the fall of 2019. It will also compliment our Safe 2 Say Something program, which is an anonymous tip hotline for the Hopewell community to report suspected threats. NEEDS: Kindergarten marks the beginning of a child's educational journey. As Kindergarten teachers, we are tasked with the responsibility of providing a solid foundation upon…

Needs: Students will learn how to code the robot and develop their coding skills so that they can launch a ball, play the xylophone, and sketch a picture using Dash. To achieve these goals, students will use iPads to control the robot by learn the different coding…

Our project is focused on providing Opportunities/Exposure/Engagement of our teenagers here at Hopewell High School. We strongly feel that our students need of exposure to innovative methods to address overall health, wellness and nutrition. Implementing these initiatives will counter the effects of screen time and sedentary lifestyles of many of our teenagers. Our goal is to provide opportunities that will inspire and empower our teens to develop a healthy lifestyle that will jettison them into their future. According to Stephen Ritz, “it is easier to raise healthy children then to fix broken men”. Needs: We need to have our wellness facility open throughout all class periods encouraging student engagement during free time and study halls; We need to have our garden area open and accessible to all students, especially those…

Fundraising, GrowingWithBooks, Home
Lincoln Learning Solutions, a Rochester-based, nonprofit, education management foundation, pulled off a wonderful hat-trick with its third and final $15,000 donation to the "Growing with Books" program. The most resent installment represents the last in a 3 year commitment of total commitment of $45,000. Through Growing with Books, Beaver County children five and younger receive a free book by mail in the spring and fall. The program is a collaboration between the Beaver County Educational Trust, the Beaver County Rehabilitation Center and the Heritage Valley Health System. Growing with Books—based on the principle that reading is the essence of learning—has distributed more than 28,000 books since inception.
