Newly elected president, Dennis Nichols, joined the BCET because of his life-ling interest and respect for education. It is also a shared passion among his family members, two of which are teachers. Mr. Nichols believes education to be the “great equalizer” in allowing anyone to attain success. His favorite BCET program is the Mini-Grant program due to the imaginative utilization of grant money to create effective education. He brings a commitment to education and experience in organizational management.

Wellness Wagon Rolls on to Good Health

Hopewell school nurses, Tamara Kross and Leah Meehan, received a Great Ideas Mini-Grant from the BCET for a "Wellness Wagon". The Wellness Wagon contained a variety of engaging hands-on activities that promoted health and wellness to the 793 Hopewell Area School District students in grades kindergarten through grade 4 during the months of February, March, April, and May 2017. The health and wellness topics included were; dental care, nutrition, physical activity, introduction to parts of the human body, illness prevention, and wellness promotion. The Wellness Wagon contained a variety of hands-on interactive activities, a dental model that taught brushing and flossing, a model for hand-washing and germs, food models and nutrition games that taught healthy eating, and models of the parts and functions of the human body. BCET to Give Out FREE Books @ BC Bookfest

The Beaver County Educational Trust will be giving away free books to kids 5 and under in the Children's Tent. This year in the Children’s Tent, wannabe wizards can take part in the BookFest Wizard Academy, where they can create their own magic wands, create potions, and much more. BookFest will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Beaver. Besides receiving a FREE book from the BCET, attendees can meet more than 60 authors who will be signing and selling their books. The festival also features a number of food vendors and literary-themed retail vendors.  Admission is free to the public.

Rotarians Support BCET w/ $1,000 Donation

The BCET was excited to receive a donation from a new donor, Rotary of Beaver. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad. The local Beaver chapter  is best known for giving away free mattresses to families living in poverty.
