Lincoln Learning Solutions, a Rochester-based, nonprofit, education management foundation, pulled off a wonderful hat-trick with its third and final $15,000 donation to the "Growing with Books" program. The most resent installment represents the last in a 3 year commitment of total commitment of $45,000. Through Growing with Books, Beaver County children five and younger receive a free book by mail in the spring and fall. The program is a collaboration between the Beaver County Educational Trust, the Beaver County Rehabilitation Center and the Heritage Valley Health System. Growing with Books—based on the principle that reading is the essence of learning—has distributed more than 28,000 books since inception.

Lincoln Learning Solutions made a three year commitment to help fund the Growing with Books program run by the BCET. Now in the second year of pledge, LLS has not disappointed and provided another $15,000 in funds. Twice a year the BCET sends age appropriate books to children in Beaver County to encourage new parents to read to their children, a.k.a. the Growing with Books program. The cost of the program is in the tens of thousands and the commitment by LLS has meant the BCET is secure in the knowledge that the beloved program will continue uninterrupted.

BCET Goes for the Juggler @ 2018 Bookfest

Once again the BCET is set to attend the Beaver County Bookfest in Beaver on September 8, 2018. The event will feature demonstrations and entertainment based around carnival theme and the usual cadre of local and published authors. At the BCET booth in the kids tent, attendees will be able to sign their toddlers up for the "Growing with Books" program, which delivers a free age appropriate book twice a year to households with kids under 5. The BCET will also have a prize wheel for kids to spin to select a free book or ball from the BCET. Pens Foundation Gives Big to Growing with Books in Beaver County

The Pens Foundation has generously given to the BCET before and continues it’s support of educating children in Beaver County with yesterdays donation. David Soltesz, President of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, presented a $10,000 check to Jamie Connelly of the Beaver County Educational Trust for the “Growing with Books” program. Each year the BCET spends close to $30,000 to send books to children under the age of 5 in Beaver County. With this generous donation the program will be able to expand and add additional children to this wonderful program.
