Ed McLaughlin served 25 years on the BCET Board

Past Trustee, Ed McLaughlin, served a total of 25 years on the Beaver County Educational Board. He was ask by the original founders, Dick Shaw and Bob Smith, to serve as a board member back in 1992. His mission then was simply to support the fledgling organization and education in Beaver County as a whole. The BCET was an off shoot of a more localized effort in Beaver and Ed wanted to see it succeed.

Even though education was not an area that the property manager and real estate broker had any expertise, he wanted to understand more and help in anyway he could. He served on many different committees over the years, wherever needed. Further, he dutifully served on the executive committee as Secretary for two years.

In his 25 years of service, there were many achievements the BCET accomplished. However, a reflective Mr. McLaughlin took the most pride in watching the organization transition from one losing momentum a few years ago to one with more vibrancy and visibility today. His favorite BCET program is the Great Idea Mini Grant. The program he feels highlights some very creative thinking outside the normal education roles.

When asked about advice he would give to those asked to join the efforts of the BCET, he said to those with passion for education wanting to improve the opportunities for future generation in terms of educational enhancements—the BCET is the right choice. The BCET would like to thank Mr. Ed McLaughlin for being apart of those efforts for the last 25 years.
