This program has been put on hiatus until after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Beaver County Educational Trust (BCET) sponsors the Beaver County Works #STEMSTRONG challenge, for Beaver County “at risk” students. The program focuses on opportunities in manufacturing as well as learning about possible career pathways in high school and beyond. Freshmen and Sophomores are eligible for participation in this team program.
Students take a tour of a local manufacturing facility where they are introduced to processes and methods used in local manufacturing. Participants are encouraged to inquire about the types of jobs and skills needed to be employed at the facility. The team challenge portion of the program follows the tour.
The team challenge requires students to utilize the 4Cs: Critical Thinking, Communication, Creativity and Collaboration in order to complete the challenge. Students are placed into small groups at random from participating school districts.
Past sponsors to this event included ARDEX Americans, Questeq, Q-cast and Beaver County Career and Technology Center.
The participating students and winners are recognized at the Energy and Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Event at the Community College of Beaver County held annually. Each student who participates receives a $25 gift card. The winning team members receives a $50 gift card.
