BCET to Give Out FREE Books @ BC Bookfest
The Beaver County Educational Trust will be giving away free books to kids 5 and under in the Children's Tent. This year in the Children’s Tent, wannabe wizards can take part in the BookFest Wizard Academy, where they can create their own magic wands, create potions, and much more. BookFest will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Beaver. Besides receiving a FREE book from the BCET, attendees can meet more than 60 authors who will be signing and selling their books. The festival also features a number of food vendors and literary-themed retail vendors. Admission is free to the public.
Rotarians Support BCET w/ $1,000 Donation
The BCET was excited to receive a donation from a new donor, Rotary of Beaver. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad. The local Beaver chapter is best known for giving away free mattresses to families living in poverty. Heritage Valley Health Systems Gives to Growing with Books Program
Heritage Valley Health Systems graciously gave $5,000 to the BCET Growing with Books program for 2017-2018. The literary program that sees participants, who are children under 5, receive an age appropriate book twice a year has seen it's numbers grow. On average the program costs $30,000 per year, with costs expected to rise in 2018. The BCET is very appreciative of the donation and is still in need of additional funds. Lincoln Learning Solutions Gives Boost to BCET Mini-Grants for 2017-2018
Lincoln Learning Solutions donated $25,000 to the Beaver County Educational Trust's Great Ideas Mini-Grant program in July. The funds will be dispersed to Beaver County teachers that apply for a Mini-Grant for the 2017-2018 school year. Deadline for Great Idea Mini-grant applications is October 1, 2017.
